 Here are some helps for helping your students to become familiar with each of the Doctrinal Mastery Passages for this year. It will also help them learn the Keywords and References for them and how to use them in situations. This is for the 2019-2020 School year so it is the first half of the New Testament, and the first half of the Book of Mormon. There are further instructions in the document.

 Here is the Doctrinal Mastery Helps I've put together for helping students to learn the passages better for the D&C year. It has the passages to read as a class, the mnemonics to help them learn the references, and activities to help them learn to explain the doctrine better. There is better instructions on the first pages of the Document. Please let me know if you find any error to correct or a better way to memorize the reference.
 Here are some simple flashcards you can download. As the picture shows, they are pretty small. They have the reference on one side, and the key words on the other. I like to print them on card stock. One page (front & back) will be a set of all 25. These are great to have the kids quiz each other after they learn 6 or 7 of them. As a little game, just have them place 6 of the cards on a desk or table with the references up. Then call out some key words and the students to touch that card first wins that point. They are also great from games like Slap Jack or Gotcha. 
 Many of you have asked me to update the website with the ideas for the Book of Mormon and fix the broken links. Here it is. There is about 2 dozen worksheets and glue-ins to help you teach various chapters in the Book of Mormon. May I particularly recommend the first idea there.  Here are the helps I am sending out to help with spotlighting 25 Doctrinal Mastery Passages each week. Just click on the file below. There is an explanation at the beginning of the PowerPoint document. But there is basically 4 parts. 1st the passage you can recite with your class each day. 2nd the mnemonic to help your class learn the reference to the key words. 3rd scenarios to role play with your students. 4th four quizzes to review the keywords and references. Hope this is helpful. Please let me know of anything I need to correct or if you have some better ideas. I would love to see them.
 Here is a New Testament Reading Bookmark you can give your students. I printed it on some cardstock. If your students were starting around August 22 and ending May 19, then they would need to read 1.5 pages a day or 1 chapter per day. I’m going to push 1.5 pages a day. The “T1, T2” stuff that is in black is where they would need to be at the 4 terms or the semester break. It might not look perfectly spread out evenly on here, but here is the breakdown as we have it. Term One: 44 chapters and 84 pages. Term Two: 45 chapters and 94 pages. Term Three: 79 chapters and 114 pages. Term Four: 92 Chapters and 109 pages. Since it is a Word document, you can change and move things as you prefer.  Some of you have a bulletin board or place where you can put things up in your classroom. I think it is a good idea to have the Doctrinal Mastery topics where they can be referred to. This document is some nice looking graphics for that. They can be printed then cut up with a card stock background. The other New Testament Bookcase is to help your class learn the books of the New Testament in order. It can be used with the song found in the Children's Songbook. These graphics can also be used to make a poster. This poster can be use to help your class learn the books of the New Testament in order. It can also be used to show how the New Testament books are grouped. Later in the year, it can be used to see where they are in their progress in studying. This has always been a nice decoration for the wall. First I will explain how to make the PDF into a poster, and then how I use it in the classroom. To make the PDF into a poster, take the Black & White one (in digital form or printed out) to a copy store and for a few dollars, they can blow-up the Black and White copy to poster size. Next I would color this according to the colors used on the second page of the PDF. I like to use colored pencils instead of markers. The colors are VERY important because they show who wrote what. For instance, all the books that are blue were written by JOHN. The books in red were written by LUKE. All the green were written by PAUL (the different shades of green are to note personal epistles, verses general epistles). Last I glue this onto colored poster board. You can have the copy store print the color PDF to poster size, but this is VERY expensive. During the first week of seminary, I like to give an overview of the New Testament. I start this by singing the books in order (see the Primary Songbook). Then I ask: Why are the books in the order they are in? A. Chronological order B. Alphabetical order C. By Author D. By Size E. By Topic After they vote, I show that (partially) all of the above are true except “Alphabetical Order”. This is a good time to explain about the 4 Gospels, Acts, Pauline epistles, and the general epistles. This is also a good time to explain who wrote what (according to the colors on the poster). It may also be a good time to look in the Bible Dictionary (Gospels) about how each of the Gospel writers wrote differently and often shared the same stories.
 Sorry it has been so long getting out helps for Doctrinal Mastery. These changes are exciting. One thing that is important to understand is that although we are not expecting the students to memorize, we still want them to know and understand the 25 Doctrinal Mastery Passages. One of the best ways of doing this is reciting one of the passages each day. Then you can talk about the passage, how it supports the Doctrinal Mastery Topic, and why it would be useful to know that passage. We also want our students to learn the Key Words to the Reference. Here you will find a mnemonic for each of the 25 Doctrinal Mastery Passages. Although this is in a PPT format so you can modify it, I don’t expect many will use these electronically or project them in the classroom. But that is up to you. You might want to simply print and put them up when you spotlight that Doctrinal Mastery Passage in your teaching. I have also given you a handout with all 25 on a front and back page to give to your students. Hope this helps.
