Old Testament Required Reading Bookmark

If you thought getting your students to read the Doctrine and Covenants was challenging, did you know that If you took the page count of the Book of Mormon, D&C and New Testament combined, the Old Testament would STILL have more pages?  Luckily your students will only be required to read selected chapters from the Old Testament. Really, it is the best of the best parts of the Old Testament.  It will make the page count about the same size as the Book of Mormon or New Testament.

In order to finish, they should read about 2 pages a night, during the regular school year.  But you can give your kids an advantage now in the summer by giving them one of these bookmarks that have the required reading. The book mark corresponds to the requirements on page 593 of the new Old Testament Seminary Teacher Manual. The two black squares show where they should be at the quarters and the second table (1 Samuel) is where they should be at the semester break. Hope this will help you and your students.

PS.  The perforated Scripture Mastery Cards this year also have a reading chart on it.  BUT it is for the entire Old Testament.  Again, they are not required to read the entire book this year.  Just the selections.

Thank you for pointing out that the reading chart that comes with the scripture mastery cards is for the entire Old Testament and not just the required selections. That confused me and I appreciate the clarification.

I was doing some calculations. During a school year you have about 274 days (including weekends). There are 336 chapters in the required reading for the Old Testament. That means that during the school year, they need to read about 1 and 1/4 chapters each night. I am guessing that is about 2 pages a night, but I don't know for sure. Who wants to figure that out from the required reading they outlined?

Is this available with just one chart on a page (and a little bigger), rather than multiple charts on a page?

For that you probably want to just use the chart in the curriculum at the back "A1". The reason I put multiple on a page is to make it into a book mark they can take home.

Has anyone put together a Seminary reading chart for school year 2015-16 that shows ALL of the chapters in the Old Testament, with the chapters NOT required to be read showing as grayed out, so that students can easily see which chapters they may skip as they read sequentially?
